Tour in Caucasus
12 DAYS / 11 NIGHTS

Season: March - November

Day I: Tbilisi 60 km
A rrival in Tbilisi; Transfer to hotel; accommodation.

Day II: Tbilisi 50 km.
Breakfast in the hotel. City tour. The city offers a great variety of sights, most of them very ancient. We start our trip from Tbilisi’s unique Old Town visiting Metekhi church (XIIIc.), Narikala Fortress (IV.c.) – one of the oldest fortifications in the city,we continue to Anchiskhati church (VIc.), Sioni Church (VI-VIIc.c.) and the recently built Sameba (Holy Trinity) Cathedral. After lunchwe visit the treasuries of the Georgian National Museum (seeing the Gold Fund of Georgia). Our trip comes to the end with sightseeing walk around Old Tbilisi. Return to the hotel. Dinner and overnight.

Day III: Tbilisi - David - Gareja - Bodbe - Tbilisi 350 km
Breakfast in the hotel and drive to the wine-growing region of Kakheti, visiting David-Gareja – cave complex located in a stark, semi-desert landscape ( Lavra and Udabno monasteries); lunch in Sighnaghi. Afterwards visiting Bodbe Monastery – the tomb of St.Nino; admiring the panoramasofAlazani valley and Caucasus range; l eaving for Tbilisi; return to the hotel, dinner and overnight.

Day IV: Tbilisi - Kazbegi - Dariali - Gudauri 200 km
Breakfast in the hotel and departure to Gudauri ; on the way visiting Ananuri Fortress ; arrival in Gudauri, lunch and departure to Kazbegi - the main town in the region. Arrival and visit dramatic Dariali Gorge; return to Kazbegi; from Kazbegi a leisurely 1.5 hour walk up through beautiful valleys and woodland leads us to Gergeti Trinity Church – located at 2170 m.; return to Gudauri, dinner and overnight.

Day V: Gudauri – Kutaisi 360 km
Breakfast in the hotel and departure to Imereti province an area of cool springs, green fields and beautiful gardens. We arrive in Kutaisi and visit Motsameta Church. After lunch visit historical site of Kutaisi – UNESCO World Heritage: Gelati Monastery and AcademyComplex (12 thc.), In the evening. City sightseeing. Dinner and overnight in Kutaisi.

Day VI: Kutaisi – Vardzia - Bakuriani 400 km
Breakfast in the hotel and visit another site of UNESCO World Heritage- the splendid Bagrati Temple ruins (10th-11th c.c.). Departure to Samtskhe-Javakheti region; arrival in Akhaltsikhe and drive to Vardzia Cave Town (XII – XIII c.c.)- one of the highlights of Georgia with its cave churches and its frescoes. Leaving for Bakuriani. Dinner and overnight.

Day VII: Bakuriani – Mtskheta - Tbilisi
Breakfast in the hotel and drive to Tbilisi. On the way visit Mtskheta - ancient capital and religious centre of Georgia, visit its historic Jvari Monastery (VI-VII) and Svetitskhoveli Cathedral (XI) - one of the sacred places of Georgia where is the robe of Jesus Christ buried – both UNESCO World heritage sites. Arrival in Tbilisi and leisure time. I n the evening farewell banquet in Georgian restaurant in Old Tbilisi. The tourists can enjoy the views of Tbilisi by night. Overnight.

Day VIII: Tbilisi – Sanain – Hagartsin – Yerevan 340km
Breakfast in the hotel and departure to Armenia; after passport control on the Georgian-Armenian border, drive to visit UNESCO World Heritage sites: Sanahin Monastery; after lunch visit Haghpat Monastery. We continue to Hagartsin Medieval Monastery and Sevanavank Monastery; arrival in Yerevan, hotel accommodation, dinner and overnight.

Day IX: Yerevan – Garni – Geghard 100 km
Breakfast in the hotel. Yerevan sightseeing tour includes a visit to the State Museum of History of Armenia , St. Gregory the Illuminator Cathedral; we continue to visit the Commemorative Monument of Genocide. After lunch we head to Garni, a pagan temple and a summer residence for Armenian royalty. From Garni a short drive will bring us to Geghard Cave Monastery. In the evening we return to Yerevan. Dinner / overnight.

Day X: Yerevan - Khor - Virap - Noravank - Yerevan 270 km
Breakfast in the hotel. In the morning we drive to visit spectacular Khor Virap Monastery with the biblical Mt Ararat in the background. We continue to Noravank Monastery, a splendid complex of churches. Return to Yerevan, dinner and overnight.

Day XI: Yerevan – Echmiadzin - Yerevan 80 km
Breakfast in the hotel. Yerevan city sightseeing and departure to Echmiadzin - the religious centre of Armenia. After visiting the main cathedral and Museum of Matenadaran there we continue to St.Hripsime and Gayane Churches; after lunch return to Yerevan. Leisure time. Dinner and overnight .

Day XII: Transfer to airport and departure. End of tour. 60 km
