Georgia – Land of Contrasts: From desert to snow

Season: March-November
Day I: TBILISI
Arrival in Tbilisi and transfer to hotel; accommodation.
Day II: TBILISI
Breakfast in hotel. City tour. The city offers a great variety of sights, most of them very ancient. We start our visit from Tbilisi’s unique Old Town from Metekhi church (XIIIc.) and then we head for Narikala Fortress (IV.c.) – one of the oldest fortifications in the city,we continue to the Anchiskhati church (VIc.),Sioni Church (VI-VIIc.c.) andtherecently built Sameba Cathedral. After lunchwe visit the treasuries of the Georgian National Museum (seeing the Gold Fund of Georgia). Our trip comes to the end with a sightseeing walk around Old Tbilisi where the tourists can visit and (in case of their desire) take the enjoyable Sulfur Bath in one of the ancient baths situated in the very centre of Historical Tbilisi. Return to the hotel. Dinner and overnight.
Day III: TBILISI - DAVID-GAREJA - BODBE - TELAVI
Breakfast in hotel and driv e to the wine-growing region of Kakheti, visiting David-GarejaMonastery – cave complex located in a stark, semi-desert landscape (Lavra and Udabno monasteries). Lunch in Sighnaghi; afterwards visit Bodbe Monastery – the tomb of St. Nino. Then we drive to Tsinandali – visiting beautiful garden and the house of the 19th century Georgian nobleman Al. Chavchavadze as well as the old wine-factory to taste more Kakhetian wine. In the evening a rrival in Telavi; hotel accommodation, dinner and overnight.
 Day IV: TELAVI - KAZBEGI - GUDAURI
Breakfast in hotel. Visit Erekle II Museum and departure to Gudauri on the Great Military Highway of Georgia, on the road visit Ananuri Fortress. Arrival in Gudauri- ski resort, hotel accommodation and drive to Kazbegi. After lunch in Kazbegi a leisurely 1.5 hour walk up through beautiful valleys and woodland leads us to Gergeti Trinity Church – located at 2170 m.; afterwards- dramatic Dariali Gorge. Return to Gudauri, dinner and overnight .
Day V:
GUDAURI - KUTAISI
Breakfast in hotel and departure to Imereti province -an area of cool springs, green fields and beautiful gardens. We arrive in Kutaisi. Accommodation, lunch and city sightseeing.Visit its UNESCO World Heritage site - the splendid Bagrati Templeruins (10 th-11 th c.c.). Afterwards- Motsameta Church and another site of UNESCO Heritage- Gelati Monastery and Academy Complex (12 th c.). Return to the hotel, dinner and overnight .
Day VI: KUTAISI - BATUMI
Breakfast in hotel and departure to Adjara region at the Bleak Sea Coast. Arrival in Batumi and hotel accommodation. After lunch visit Gonio Fortress and beautiful botanical garden. In the afternoon visit city center with the possibility of relax at the beach and enjoy the boulevard. In the evening return to the hotel, dinner and overnight .
Day VII: BATUMI - BAKURIANI
Breakfast in hotel and leisure time for city sightseeing tour. After lunch drive to Bakuriani. In the evening arrival in ski resort, accommodation, dinner and overnight.
Day VIII: BAKURIANI - LIKANI - VARDZIA - SAPARA - BAKURIANI
Breakfast in hotel and departure to Samtskhe-Javakheti region. On the road visit Likani- the area of mineral waters. Drive to Akhaltsikhe, arrival and visit Vardzia Cave Town (XII–XIII c.c. ) - one of the highlights of Georgia with its cave churches and its frescoes. After picnic visit Sapara Monastery(XIII – XIVc.c.) and return to Bakuriani, dinner and overnight.
Day IX: BAKURIANI - MTSKHETA - TBILISI
Breakfast in hotel and drive to Tbilisi. On the way visiting the ancient capital and religious centre of Georgia- Mtskheta and its UNESCO World Heritage sites: Jvari Monastery (VI-VIIc.c.) and Svetitskhoveli Cathedral (XIc.)- one of the sacred places of Georgia where is the robe of Jesus Christ buried. Lunch.Arrival in Tbilisi. Visitthe Open-air Museum. Leisure time. In the evening farewell banquet in Georgian restaurant in Old Tbilisi. The tourists can enjoy the panorama of night Tbilisi. Overnight.
Day XI: Transfer to airport and departure.
In case of force major circumstances the agency reserves the right to make some necessary changes.
During the journey you will visit a great number of historical sites, as well as natural beauties of Georgia, in particular:
* 10 Churches: including UNESCO World Heritage
* 5 Monasteries with particular frescoes
* 3 Museums of Georgia – Georgian National Museum, Tbilisi Open-Air Museum and Erekle II Museum in Telavi.
